Dear fellow Sportsmen & Women,
I am delighted to pass on details of our forthcoming Annual Run For The Cure & Darkness into Light Walk Events.
Please consider them and join us on either or both occasions to help us raise awareness (and money if you wish to do so) about Cancer and the desire for a cure, and also recognising Suicide and Self Harm letting potential victims and their families know that we care , as a community, and that there are other solutions and help available to them through great institutions like Pieta House.
Our immediate area, around Ballygar, Newbridge, Ballyforan, Creggs, has been greatly affected by both Cancer and Suicide and while we all feel helpless these two events have been a source of great community support by letting everyone know how much we care and that we walk the road with them shoulder to shoulder , hand in hand in spirit and friendship.
Ballygar Gathers to Make a Difference
Ballygar’s Annual 10km/5km Walk or Run For the Cure will take place on Sunday, May 4th at 11:00 a.m. with the  5 km Darkness Into Light Walk  taking place on Saturday morning, May 10th at 4:15 a.m. 100% of all money raised will be donated to Cancer and Suicide Charities: The Irish Cancer Society, Galway Hospice and Pieta House, Tuam. There are no registration fees – voluntary donations only for both events.

In conjunction with our Walk/Run for the Cure on May 4th, we are inviting interested participants to Shave, Dye – or simply go for a Mad Hair Day!  Speak to our local hairdressers, including Majella Hannon in Johnston’s pharmacy, Ballygar – all of whom are donating their earnings to our named charities. Majella will be in Centra, Ballygar during our Bag Pack on Saturday May 3rd 11:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m. with  all her barber equipment, for anyone who wishes to avail of a head shave in advance of Run For the Cure the following day. Of course, DIY hair creations are a creative option! These annual fun Run/Walks attract participants from all over Ireland every year, people who like to run, jog or walk and people who are motivated to support communities and charities, committed to raising funds and awareness around Cancer and Suicide. We warmly invite you to Ballygar on May 4th and May 10th. You will receive a warm and memorable welcome!
